The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) ethics officer DK Jain has scrapped the conflict of interest complaint against newly-elected President Sourav Ganguly. Notably, Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association life member Sanjeev Gupta had filed the complaint on October 4 citing conflict of interest issue against the former India captain.

Gupta claimed that Ganguly held many chairs as the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and it’s representative to the BCCI AGM. As per the BCCI constitution, no individual can’t hold more than one position at one time. Sourav Ganguly resigned from all the posts in CAB adhering to the constitution after taking charge in the BCCI.
DK Jain completely dismissed the complaint by Sanjeev Gupta stating that it holds no grounds. Notably, Gupta had earlier complained against former India skipper and current National Cricket Academy Director Rahul Dravid.

“In my view, in the light of the noted development, the issue of whether there is any “Conflict of Interest” on the part of Mr. Ganguly does not survive for the consideration of the Ethics Officer,” Jain stated in his order issued on Friday.
Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly is currently very busy with the upcoming historic day-night Test. Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host the pink-ball Test starting from November 22. Previously, India had promised to play a pink-ball Test against Australia during their last tour but backed out at the last moment. The management cited they didn’t had enough preparation with the pink balls to appear in a full-fledged Test match.
But with Sourav Ganguly taking over as the new boss of BCCI, he was hell-bent to organise a day-night Test. The former India skipper got Virat Kohli and Bangladesh Cricket Board on the same page to host the second Test between India and Bangladesh as they day-night Test.

Furthermore, Ganguly is leaving no stones unturned to make this Test match a grand success. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will ring the customary Eden bell to start the Test match.
