David Warner Came Out And Was Amazing: Jason Roy
During the post-match press conference, Jason Roy lauded the DC captain David Warner for his crucial contribution in the run chase, stating that he played a key role in breaking the back of their innings.
Despite being the highest scorer for KKR with 43 runs, Roy expressed his belief that if they had managed to score 15-20 runs more, DC might have taken a more aggressive approach while batting. In the press conference, Roy also expressed his disappointment with his dismissal as he felt he could have made a better impact.
“Chasing a total like that, the way David Warner came out and played was amazing. He kind of broke the back of the run chase, and that is what you want from your opener when you’re chasing a low score.”
“If we had got 15-20 runs more, they would have batted differently, and they would have taken more chances. They wouldn’t have taken it so deep, and we were short with the runs, but we bowled extremely well to keep ourselves in the game,”
“The timing of my dismissal was not great. It is never nice to get out, but when I got out, I was not even trying to hit in the air. I got a top edge, and it managed to get to deep square leg, which is very frustrating because I think two-three overs more, we could have gone up to 140, which would have been a harder chase,”
David Warner’s Delhi Capitals after earning their first win will be looking to carry the momentum ahead as they face Sunrisers Hyderabad in back-to-back fixtures.
