Tamim Iqbal Picks Ravichandran Ashwin, Morne Morkel And Saeed Ajmal As The Toughest Bowlers He Ever Faced

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal has named Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, South African speedster Morne Morkel, and Former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal as the toughest bowlers he has faced in his career. Tamim was recently appointed as Bangladesh’s ODI Captain.

Tamim Iqbal has been a legendary player for the Bangladeshi tigers. He has scored 13,308 runs in 341 matches at an average of 35.11 to go with 23 centuries and 81 half-centuries across all formats and has been one of their key players over the last decade or so.

Now that Tamim has scaled so much glory with his performances all across the globe, the star batsman has revealed as to who are the toughest bowlers he has come across.

Tamim Iqbal Heaps Praise On Saeed Ajmal

The 31-year-old Bangladeshi cricketer, who was named as ODI skipper earlier this month, admitted that he was unable to read Ajmal when the bowler was at his peak and also said that Ashwin was equally difficult to pick.

“First I would talk about Saeed Ajmal. When he was at his prime, I couldn’t read his deliveries. I had plenty of troubles while playing him,” Tamim was quoted as saying in an interview with Daily Star.

“South Africa’s Morne Morkel was tough to face. Another one is Ravichandran Ashwin, who is one of the current players. Even he is difficult to read. I would like to take the names of these three cricketers as they are quality bowlers,” he added.

Tamim Iqbal Has Been Spot On With His Choice Of Bowlers

Tamim’s choice of bowlers has been spectacular as the statistics speak volume for themselves. Saeed Ajmal has picked a total of 178 Test wickets in his illustrious career. The veteran Pakistan spinner scalped 184 wickets in the 50-overs format. Ajmal also represented Pakistan in 64 T20Is wherein he claimed 85 wickets at an average of 17.84.

Talking about Ravichandran Ashwin, the off-spinner is already a legend for the Men in Blue as he has scalped more than 550 wickets across all formats in international cricket, with Test cricket being his favourite format wherein he has picked a total of 365 wickets so far. Morne Morkel has also been a Proteas legend picking up close to 550 wickets across all formats in international cricket.
