India recently registered a comprehensive victory over New Zealand, courtesy of some impressive bowling from our pacers. Jasprit Bumrah, in particular, was in fine form as he troubled the Kiwis a lot in the ongoing five-match T20I series. He registered bowling figures of 1-21 from his four overs in the second T20, helping India take a 2-0 lead in the series.

India have been extremely clinical against the Black Caps in both the matches, with the bowling unit receiving a lot of plaudits from fans and pundits alike.

Despite being at home, the Kiwis never looked comfortable facing a confident bowling attack of team India.

Bumrah, who appeared to have twisted his ankle in the first game, came back roaring in the second T20 in Auckland. The player who has developed as a death bowling specialist has impressed a lot of people, including New Zealand wicket-keeper Tim Seifert.

Tim Seifert reveals why New Zealand struggled to score runs against Jasprit Bumrah:

During a recent interaction with the media, Seifert revealed that Bumrah’s subtle variations were the real reason why his team failed to impress.

He said, ” Even in the first game, Bumrah bowled slower balls that were going wider. Normally, death bowlers get into straighter lines, plus yorkers and mix it with chest height. He kind of changes things a lot and is tougher to play.”

Seifert scored an unbeaten 33 off 26 balls, but couldn’t lead his team to victory. The stumper also added that New Zealand batsmen should take cues from their Indian counterparts, so they can adapt to different conditions in the future.

“Indian batsmen showed how to get under the ball and time it. They showed it a couple of times that and on the slower wickets you just have to keep it like that. Once you lose your shape, you are not in position,” said Seifert.

He further added, “Try to get them (bowlers) off line or off balance, try to get into that position to hit good balls. That’s T20 cricket as well. Sometimes it’s going 100 per cent but some times you have to take a breath and re-assess. Indian batters did that well.”

All eyes will turn to Seddon Park now, as team India holding a comfortable 2-0 lead will try to clinch the five-match series in the next T20 on 29th January in Hamilton.
