Many batsmen have developed many release shots that result in fours and hitting fours is much easy than hitting those long shots for six. The trend of hitting this many sixes started in the last decade, thanks to shorter boundaries, fielding restrictions, two new balls and heavy bats.

10. Bangladesh – 6451 Fours

Unfortunately, Bangladesh takes the final spot in the table with 6451 fours so far. Though they have produced many talented cricketers to the world cricket, they couldn’t find enough boundaries to move up in the lineup.

However, Bangladesh has been playing some great cricket in the recent past, which would help them to make things fall in place.

Besides fours, they scored 817 sixes in this format of the game. So far, they played 529 ODI matches.

9. Zimbabwe – 8292 Fours

Zimbabwe has produced some great batsmen like Andy Flower, Grant Flower and Alistair Campbell. They have displayed some attacking displays over the years and have scored a total of 8292 fours in 529 matches since they first started playing ODIs in the year 1983.

Although Zimbabwe players have only managed to score 64 centuries in ODI cricket till now.

Of late, the team hit the downward direction in performance graph but still, they got the calibre to change things quickly.

However, considering the way that the country plays less number of ODIs had definitely had its effect on their fours tally.

A country which takes pride from their achievement in a longer format, England have hit 13506 fours in 746 ODIs. Surprisingly, they have used the most number of players (257) in ODIs.

5. West Indies – 13706 Fours

The Caribbeans take the fifth position in the chart with 200 fours more than England. 196 West Indians have played 50 over’s cricket for their nation and in the 822 games that they have played, scored a total of 13706 fours in ODIs.

With attacking batsmen like Lara, Viv Richards, Gayle and Pollard who have donned the maroon shirt for them, they had to have the number of fours that they have.

4. Sri Lanka – 14617 Fours

The Sri Lankans have scored a total of 14617 fours in the 852 matches that they have played since 1975 in ODIs. They have faced a total of 223765 balls in the ODIs and out of those 14617 balls have been dispatched for fours.

Attacking batsmen like Ranatunga, De Silva, Jayasuriya, Dilshan and Sangakkara are some of the players who have or are playing for the island nation and have major contributions in the tally of boundaries.

3. Pakistan – 15673 Fours
