Team India has been quite brilliant in all three formats of the game in the recent past.

After a strong performance in the Rainbow Nation, the Men in Blue are currently fighting it out in a T20I tri-nation series also involving Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

They have looked the complete side in the tournament despite losing their 1st encounter to Sri Lanka.

The reason behind India’s success in the limited overs format has a lot to do with some consistent performances from their bowlers. The spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav tormented the South African batsmen in their backyard.

Very recently Chahal became the 4th highest wicket-taker for India in T20I’s. Ravichandran Ashwin heads the chart. However, the spinner has lost his place in the limited-overs format.

Here is the list of top five Indian bowlers with most wickets in T20I’s

Ravichandran Ashwin – 52 wickets in 46 matches

The out of favour bowler is the most successful Indian bowler in this format. Ever since the inclusion of Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, Ashwin has slowly gone down the radar.

However, he was one of the most precious bowlers for India before the emergence of this current spin brigade. He has scalped out 52 wickets in 46 matches.

One of the most memorable deliveries in his career was when he bowled one to Hashim Amla which turned like a leg break viciously during the 2014 T20 World Cup.

Jasprit Bumrah- 41 wickets in 34 matches

Bumrah has been the best T20I bowler for India in the recent past. Ever since making his debut a couple of years ago, he has been a superb addition to India’s limited-overs format.

The lanky speedster has quite a few variations up his sleeves. He is a superb death overs bowler and can rattle any batting order on his day.

He has been playing non-stop cricket for a long time, and hence he was rested for the ongoing Nidahas Trophy.

Ashish Nehra – 34 wickets in 27 matches

The former India pacer is the 3rd most successful bowler for the Men in Blue in the shortest format of the game.

The left-arm pacer retired from international cricket very recently after playing his last international match against New Zealand. At the age of 38, he made a return to the national team and even played a big part in the ICC World Twenty20 in 2016 which Windies won defeating England in the final of the tournament.

Yuzvendra Chahal- 32 wickets in 20 matches

The leggie has been a revelation for the Men in Blue in limited-overs cricket. At times he has gone for a few runs, but there is no doubt about the fact he is a wicket-taker.

His magical spell of 6/25 against England in early 2017 helped India seal the three-match series quite convincingly in the end.

In the series against South Africa, he was smashed for a few runs, but given his wicket-taking ability, Chahal will be the go-to man for Kohli in crunch situations.

The left-arm spinner has been out of the limited overs set up for a long time now. He completes the chart with 31 wickets in 40 matches. The shortest format hasn’t brought the best out of Jadeja.

His stalk delivery which is the slider has been picked by batsmen quite easily in this format. But given his all-round abilities, the selectors should always keep a look at him and Ashwin.
