Caribbean Premier League franchise Trinbago Knight Riders have signed Fawad Ahmed for the upcoming season of the league. Australia’s Fawad Ahmed will fill in the shoes of Pakistan’s Shadab Khan who is unavailable for the tournament. The Windies domestic T20 competition will run from 8th August to 16 September.

Meanwhile, Shadab was instrumental in the success of the franchise in the previous season as he took 12 wickets in the eight matches.

Ahmed is still young in his International career and thus it would be a golden opportunity to impress with his skills in the CPL. The 36-year old campaigner has played three One-Dayers and two T20I for the Australian team.

The leg-spinner has scalped six wickets in the five International matches he has thus far played. However, he has represented Sydney Thunder and the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League.

Speaking about the signing of Ahmed, Venky Mysore, Director of the franchise said, “We were hugely disappointed to lose out on Shadab for this year’s tournament but Fawad is a fantastic replacement. As a bowler who can turn the ball both ways we are sure he will be a fantastic addition to the TKR squad for the 2018 season.”

The Australian player has scalped 35 T20 wickets in his domestic career after playing 39 matches at an average of 27. Ahmed has conceded his runs at an economy of seven.

Thus, it would be a good opportunity for Ahmed to leave his mark. Meanwhile, Trinbago Knight Riders are the defending champions of the Hero CPL. Knight Riders will kickstart their season when they will lock horns with St. Lucia Stars on August 8. Dwayne Bravo is the captain of the TKL.
