David Warner, on Saturday, scored the first triple century of his career as he continued his remarkable run in the ongoing home season. Having scored 154 in the previous Test at the Gabba, David Warner once again put Australia in the driver’s seat in the ongoing second Test in Adelaide. The southpaw’s performance would delight Australia after his horrible outing in this year’s Ashes.

Warner had looked all at sea as England bowlers toyed with him in swinging conditions. Despite being one of the most experienced cricketers in the series, he had a series to forget. In five Tests, he scored just 95 runs, the lowest tally for an opener to bat 10 times in a series, with 61 of them coming in a single innings at Headingley. England’s veteran pacer Stuart Broad was his nemesis, removing him seven times with one of the most one-sided batsmen-bowler contests witnessed in Test cricket.

But David Warner did not take long to regain his Test form as he hit the ground running at home. At the start of the home season, he scored his maiden T20I hundred and has now made the season only better with his maiden triple century in Tests. He reached his 300 off 388 balls with the help of 37 fours.

Warner’s triple century is first in Tests since 2016. India’s Karun Nair was the last batsman to reach the magical figures while Michael Clarke in 2012 was the last Australian to score 300. Warner became the eighth Australian and 31st player overall to hit a triple century in the longest format of the game. With ample time left in the game, Warner would love to touch the 400-run mark. Currently, former West Indies skipper Brian Lara holds the record for the highest individual score in Tests. Lara had scored 400 against England.

Meanwhile, Twitter was quick to laud David Warner for his stunning knock. Here are some of the messages:
