Bangladesh whitewashed England in the three-match T20I series. The Bangladesh Tigers won the 3rd T20I match by 16 runs against a star-studded England team. This was the first bilateral T20I series between the two nations. Bangladesh would be over the moon as defending 159 runs is never easy, especially against a long & dangerous England batting lineup where they had got Jofra Archer & Adil Rashid present in the lower order.
England’s middle order once again was exposed when the likes of Moeen Ali & Ben Duckett couldn’t take the team over the finish line. Dawid Malan had struck a fine half-century where he scored 53 runs in 47 ballsand smashed 6 fours & 2 sixes. Malan was involved in a 95-run partnership with Jos Buttler. England made a mess of the target as they required 59 runs in the last 7 overs which wasn’t a big task given 9 wickets in hand.

Bangladesh skipper Shakib al Hasan’s decision to bowl the 19th over proved to be decisive as he gave away only 4 runs and took the crucial wicket of Sam Curran. It was a collective effort from the bowling unit. Bangladesh now have won the T20I series against Australia (2021), New Zealand (2021) & England in Bangladesh which is a massive achievement. We should not forget that this was a new young team.
Skipper Jos Buttler would rue his decision to bat in the middle order in the 2nd & 3rd T20I matches. It’s a wake-up call for England where they were outplayed in all the 3 facets of the match. It won’t be wrong to say that we can expect whole changes to the England setup.
