IPL 2021: Twitter Erupts As Kartik Tyagi Defends 4 Runs In Final Over To Help RR Seal A Victory Over PBKS

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) came back from the dead to clinch Match 32 against Punjab Kings (PBKS). The game saw last over drama where Kartik Tyagi managed to defend just four runs against the Punjab batsmen.
On a sunny evening in Dubai, Rahul won the toss and decided to bowl first. The RR openers got their team off to a blazing start, bringing up the 50-run stand in the fifth over. Evin Lewis looked good before Arshdeep accounted for his wicket and provided the crucial breakthrough for the Punjab franchise.
Yashashvi Jaiswal played a few aggressive shots and kept the rate going. Sanju Samson had an off day but the rest of the batsmen continued attacking. The positive intent shown would have pleased their fans. At one stage, they were sitting comfortably at 166/4 around 16 overs.
A death overs collapse saw the PBKS side lose their last six wickets for just 19 runs. They eventually folded up for 185, with Arshdeep ending as the pick of the bowlers. He had figures of 5/32 and became the third-youngest player in the IPL to take a five-wicket haul in the process.
PBKS openers then got off to a fabulous start. Often criticized for his low strike rate, Rahul turned on the screws and played the role of the aggressor in the powerplay. His partner, Mayank, took over after the field restrictions and amped up the scoring rate.
Rahul fell just one run short of his fifty but Mayank carried on. Both of them were dismissed within a span of a few deliveries but Nicholas Pooran and new recruit Aiden Markram steadied the ship and took them closer to the target.
The game looked dead and buried with the two going great guns. The equation was brought down to just four runs from the final over with uncapped player Tyagi handed the responsibility of defending it.
He took the wicket of the set batsman, Pooran, before snatching Deepak Hooda a couple of deliveries later. Fabian Allen walked in to face the final two balls but Tyagi was brilliant with his yorkers and managed to take his team over the line.
Twitterati was stunned with the way PBKS succumbed under pressure but also hailed the never-give-up attitude of the Sanju Samson-led squad. The victory took RR into fifth place with four wins from eight games while PBKS fell down to the seventh spot.
Here’s how Twitterati reacted Kartik Tyagi’s brilliance in a last-over thriller between RR and PBKS

That's one of the greatest last overs I've seen in #IPL for a long time. Defending 4 giving away just a solitary run!!! @kartiktyagi591 @rajasthanroyals #RRvsPK @IPL https://t.co/uZ1zPzFSpQ

Two no-balls missed. In the Mustafizur over. And #PBKS has lost the game by two runs. What good is technology if that doesn’t allow you to rectify a glaring error? #PBKSvRR #IPL2021
