The captain of the England Cricket Team, Joe Root, carried on his onslaught on the second day of the Chennai Test as he scored his fifth Test double century. Root, in the process, also became the first-ever batsman to score a double hundred in his 100th Test match. Twitter couldn’t keep calm but laud the English skipper for his valiant knock.
Root’s onslaught has helped the English team gain a massive score in the first innings of the Chennai Test match. Having won the toss on Friday, England have gone on to dominate the entire Test match so far. On the first day, Root and Dominic Sible played a couple of quality knocks as Root came into bat with the same form on Day 2.
Twitter Hails Joe Root After He Becomes The First Batsman To Score A Double Century In His 100th Test
Root and Ben Stokes began the proceedings for the English team on Day 2 and both the batsmen thrashed the Indian bowlers all over the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Stokes took the aggressive responsibilities as he scored runs in a flurry. Joe Root, on the other hand, kept the scoreboard ticking.
Stokes then departed on 82 runs, 18 runs short of his century. However, the English team wasn’t fazed by the Indian challenge and Root and Ollie Pope kept on with the scoring. Root then completed his double century and fans on Twitter couldn’t help but laud the English skipper for his heroics with the bat.

England are in cruise control at Tea on Day 2 after they have managed to score 454 runs for the loss of just 4 wickets with 6 wickets in hand. Team India, on the other hand, looks in deep trouble as the Indian batting lineup should now set their eyes at a very big score going into the second innings.
