The second double header of the weekend saw two enthralling encounters in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as Royal Challengers Bangalore took on the Rajasthan Royals in the first fixture of the day while it was the Kolkata Knight Riders who hosted the Chennai Super Kings in the evening game.

RCB won their second consecutive game in a row in the tournament defeating RR by 7 runs to bag 2 crucial points and move up the points table. Batting first RCB lost Virat Kohli and Shahbaz Ahmed early. However, Faf du Plessis who has been in great form in IPL 2023 continued his tremendous run alongside Glenn Maxwell as the duo provided a great platform to the side as they registered 189 runs on the board.

RR in reply despite two valiant half-centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal failed to get past the mark with Bangalore keeping it tight in the death overs with Harshal Patel, David Willey, and Mohammed Siraj stepping up to help their side get past the finish line.

The second game of the day between CSK and KKR saw a bloodbath as Chennai lodged a massive total of 235 runs on the board, thanks to three blistering half-centuries from Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, and Shivam Dube. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja also made valuable contributions to the total as the Super Kings registered their third-highest total in IPL history.

KKR in reply never looked comfortable chasing the mammoth score on the board as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals, while Chennai’s bowling unit were reluctant on giving away any freebies. Jason Roy tried to go on the offensive but it was a solo effort as the batter was dismissed on 61 off 26 deliveries.

Rinku Singh tried his best to get KKR past the finish line but 59 runs off 12 balls were too much for KKR’s miracle man as CSK registered the win by a margin of 49 runs.
