Former Australia pacer Jason Gillespie was mighty impressed with the Indian athlete. He said Ishant’s attitude to learn and improve helped him achieve the feat. Gillespie took to twitter and tweeted,

“Very happy to see Ishant do so well- all down to his attitude to want to learn, improve and get better. The current coaching staff of the @BCCI team need to take a lot of credit.”

The Australian was Ishant’s coach at Sussex, where the seamer spent his time back in 2018- English County Championship. Ishant made a comeback after being sidelined with an injury. He credited the support staff at the National Cricket Academy in Banglaore for his quick recovery and the endurance. Ishant had earlier revealed that he was sleep deprived as he reported just 72 hours ahead of the match.

“All credit goes to the NCA support staff. They worked really hard with me. The Big thing was, we never really have to come and play a Test match. My MRI showed I had a complete tear, ligament tear, not one but two. I was expected to be out for 6 weeks. I just wanted to carry on with my rehab. Nothing was playing on my mind… I did not think about playing the New Zealand Tests.” Sharma mentioned.
