The moment that Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav and their fans have been waiting for, finally arrived on Sunday as the duo earned their maiden T20I caps ahead of the second game against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
After having lost the first game by a comprehensive margin of eight wickets, Team India has made two changes in their playing 11.
Shikhar Dhawan, who struggled in the first game, has made way for Jharkhand and Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan while Suryakumar Yadav has replaced left-arm orthodox Axar Patel.
Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav have earned their well-deserved call-ups to the Indian team following brilliant performances in the IPL and in domestic cricket.
The duo were the bedrock of the Mumbai Indians batting-unit in what turned out to be a triumphant campaign for the most successful franchise in the history of the IPL.
While Ishan smashed 516 runs at an average of 57.33 and at a strike-rate of 145.76, Suryakumar Yadav accumulated 480 runs in 16 games at an average of 40 and a strike-rate of 145.01.
Ahead of their T20I debut, captain Virat Kohli handed the elusive Team India cap to Ishan Kishan while Suryakumar Yadav received his India cap from head coach Ravi Shastri.
