With Team India putting up a brave fight on day five of the ongoing third Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Australia are trying all they could to unsettle the visitors. In fact, the hosts are not even shying away from using controversial tactics in their quest to take an unassailable lead in the four-match Border-Gavaskar Series.
Matthew Wade came up with such an unsportsmanlike action when Ravichandran Ashwin was batting. The India off-spinner was putting up a heroic effort with the bat to help India save the game. Ashwin took several blows on his body especially the chest but those blows did not make any difference to his commitment as he kept India in hunt for a stunning draw.
Rattled with Ravichandran Ashwin’s brave batting, Matthew Wade and his teammates tried to intimidate the India star with a disgraceful act. The incident took place when Ashwin defended one ball towards Matthew Wade who was fielding at short leg. After the ball hit his legs, Matthew Wade pretended to run towards the spinner in an attempt to break his concentration.
Matthew Wade was not done yet. When his teammates cheered him on, he acted as if he was hurt by their touching, presumably mocking Ashwin who was previously hurt after coping a blow on his rib cage while facing Pat Cummins.
Here is a clip of the incident:
