A lot of controversies have emerged ever since Steve Smith has scuffed the pitch during the final day of the Sydney Test when Rishabh Pant was batting. A lot of cricketers, past and present, have gone on to criticize the Australian batsman as once again, tags of Smith being a cheat have surfaced all across the cricket world.

While the entire cricketing fraternity has come down hard at Steve Smith, the entire Australian fraternity has gone on to support their veteran Test batsman. Earlier, Australian skipper Tim Paine rubbished all claims of Smith cheating and then, Justin Langer, the Australian coach has come down in support of their batsman.

Video Surfaces Showing Ground Staff Cleaning The Pitch Way Before Steve Smith Stepped In

Now, a new video has surfaced on the internet showing that the groundsmen had cleaned the pitch and the crease area way before Steve Smith had stepped in. Notably, Smith has been in a lot of controversies after the incident as he has been accused of clearing Rishabh Pant’s batting guard.

Smith himself hit out at his critics on Wednesday as he stated, “I have been quite shocked and disappointed by the reaction to this,” Steve Smith told the Daily Telegraph.

“It’s something I do in games to visualise where we are bowling, how the batter is playing our bowlers and then out of habit I always mark centre,” he added.

Team India To Take On Australia In The Final Test At Brisbane

The Indian Cricket Team is now all set to take on Australia in the final Test of the series at Brisbane from January 15. The first Test was won by Australia in Adelaide while India came to bounce back and level the series in the second Test at Melbourne. The third Test at Sydney ended in a draw after a valiant effort from the Indian batsmen helped them salvage a draw in the game.

The India National Cricket Team is dealing with a lot of injuries as their star men have been ruled out including Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Hanuma Vihari.

If team India manages to pull off a  win or a draw in the final Test, it will be none short of an achievement.

Steve Smith has climbed to the second spot in the ICC Test Rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after the third Test between India and Australia. Steve Smith was awarded the Man of the Match for his brilliant batting performance in both the innings against India.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has slipped down to the third place in the ICC Test Rankings after his absence from the Test series after the first Test in Adelaide. Kohli had flown back to India after the Adelaide Test as he had been granted a paternal leave by the BCCI and the Indian skipper became a father on January 11 as his wife Anushka Sharma gave birth to their daughter.

Steve Smith has gained in his ICC Test Rankings as he has now jumped to the second spot in the Rankings. In the first innings of the Sydney Test, he had scored a scintillating century and ended his innings on 131 runs. In the second innings, he was once again up to the task as he scored 81 runs in the second innings.

Marnus Labuschagne and Babar Azam have held the 4th and 5th spots respectively. While Marnus Labuschagne has played decent knocks throughout the series, Babar Azam was ruled out of the series against New Zealand due to injury.
