Ashok Dinda, Bengal’s pace leader, has been ruled out of the remainder of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017/18 due to health issues, a report in Sportstar suggests.
Dinda missed the second contest of the tournament against Kerala and only made a comeback for the game against Uttar Pradesh, where he was ineffective.
Bengal, who are yet to win a single contest, are almost out of the tournament two losses and one tied contest.
They suffered their first defeat of the tournament against Maharashtra, led by Rahul Tripathi, chased down 294.
Their second contest against Kerala was a tied game when both the teams ended their innings on a score of 235.
In the third contest, Bengal failed to chase down a target of 330 against Suresh Raina led Uttar Pradesh.
They are almost ruled out of the tournament and their remaining games will just be a chance for them to add some points in their account.
Though, the players would like to pull up their socks against Delhi, a team against which their contest is always much talked about.
Alok, Amit called in –
Cricket Associaton of Bengal (CAB) has called in Alok Pratap Sing and Boddupalli Amit to replace Dinda.
Amit played the semi-final contest of the Ranji Trophy 217/18 against Delhi, which Bengal lost by an innings and 26 runs.
Bengal will play their last three league stage games of the tournament against Delhi, Tripura and Himachal Pradesh.
For Delhi, the game against Bengal will be an opportunity to post a win to qualify for the next round.
Apart from that, they will also look to keep their winning streak on.
Delhi have won all their three games in the tournament till now.
In other games of group B tomorrow, Himachal Pradesh will face Uttar Pradesh while Kerala will face Tripura.
