Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018: Fan Climbs Barrier to Touch Gautam Gambhir's Feet
Updated - 22 Sep 2018, 02:35 PM
India opener, Gautam Gambhir attained a God-like status after a fan did the unexpected by breaching the security during a live match in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018 match and touched his feet.
Meanwhile, Gambhir notched up his fifty en route to a knock of 62 runs off 48 deliveries lacing ten boundaries. Furthermore, Himmat Singh strikes a stunning 74, as Delhi breached the target with still four overs remaining.
Saurashtra posted 237 runs batting first riding from half-centuries from Sheldon Jackson and Arpit Vasavada. Subodh Bhati was the pick of the bowlers returning with five for 24 in 7.3 overs. In reply, Gambhir, Himmat, and Lalit Yadav guided Delhi home quite convincingly.
However, Gautam Gambhir is out of the reckoning for the national squad and hence is playing domestic cricket. Gambhir has been a celebrated player for the country; he has played pivotal roles in the inaugural World T20 and the 2011 World Cup triumph as well.
However, these scenes are not unusual in Indian cricket. We have seen fans touching Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag’s feet in the past, not to forget MS Dhoni as well.
Fan break barrier to touch Gautam Gambhir
The fan initially jumped over the fences at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, ran down to the middle and touched his feet. It was during Delhi’s tournament opener against Saurashtra when the episode took place.
Moreover, the fan was wearing a red shirt, who was later taken out by the security personnel.
