Former Indian batsman Amay Khurasiya believes that Virat Kohli has the talent to become India’s most successful cricketer in the time to come. Khurasiya, who was part of the 1999 Indian World Cup squad is all impressed with the consistency of the Indian skipper.

Also, Kohli is rewriting the history books as he is breaking the slew of records. Moreover, Khurasiya lauded Kohli’s credentials as a batsman.

Furthermore, the former southpaw was impressed with the double hundred knock of Kohli which he played against New Zealand at Indore in 2016.

Amay Khurasiya said while talking to Sportstar, “Kohli has the talent to become India’s most successful cricketer ever,” he said. “I was mighty impressed by the double hundred he scored in the Indore Test against New Zealand in 2016 without hitting a single six; that was just a few months after scoring four hundreds in the IPL.”

Moreover, Khurasiya compared watching Kohli and AB de Villiers bat as equal to catching the action between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

When Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) played King XI Punjab (KXIP) in the latter’s home ground of Indore, Khurasiya didn’t want to miss out on the action.

“It is like getting to watch Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in my hometown,” he said.

I should have received more opportunities, claims Amay Khurasiya.

In addition, Khurasiya scored a fine half-century on his debut. The Madhya Pradesh batsman accumulated 57 runs off just 45 balls against Sri Lanka at Pune in 1999.

Moreover, Khurasiya was also part of the 1999 Indian team World Cup squad. However, he did not get an opportunity. Khurasiya believes that he deserved an opportunity in atleast one or two games.

“It was very frustrating. I could have been considered for a game or two. I asked captain Mohammed Azharuddin why I wasn’t; he had no answer,”  he said.

Meanwhile, Khurasiya is now the chief coach at the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) academy.

Avesh Khan, who is plying on his trade in the ongoing IPL for Delhi Daredevils is able to consistently clock speed above 140 kph. Khurasiya is happy that former players like Glenn McGrath and Rahul Dravid have lauded the young fast bowler.

“I was delighted to hear Glenn McGrath and Dravid speak highly of him,” he said. “But I hope the MP selectors give him a decent run in First Class cricket,” Khurasiya concluded.
