Former India cricketer, Virender Sehwag is absolutely ecstatic to see another ‘Rahul’ bat the number three for India in Test cricket, as KL Rahul walked out to bat after the dismissal of opener Shikhar Dhawan.

Meanwhile, India got off to a flier banking on Dhawan and Murali Vijay after opting to bat first. While Vijay played the second hand, Dhawan went bonkers at the rookies in this format.

The southpaw continued his form from the Indian Premier League, as he hammered the balls out of the park. Dhawan was in his mood, as the southpaw didn’t spare a single bowler. So much so, he took Rashid Khan for 51 runs in the seven overs so far.

Dhawan played some glorious drives and cuts, as the Afghan skipper Asghar Stanikzai looked clueless. The bowlers also failed to make any inroads against some top-class batting.

Gabbar’, as he is profoundly known smashed his way to his seventh Test hundred in just 87 balls hitting Rashid for a four piercing the gap between the extra-cover and mid-off. Meanwhile, India went to lunch at 158 for the loss of no wickets.

After the short break, Dhawan lost his concentration as he hardly added anything from his score before lunch as he got out. Yamin Ahmadzai became the first Afghan to take a Test wicket as Dhawan (107) departed playing a loose shot.

The departure of Dhawan brought in Rahul in the middle in place of Cheteshwar Pujara.

Sehwag delighted to see a Rahul at three

Although the move to send Rahul at one drop may surprise some cricket lover, Sehwag was ecstatic to see him bat at that position. Meanwhile, Sehwag was Rahul’s colleagues in the Kings XI Punjab squad.

Rahul had a delightful time as he finished the tournament as the third highest run-scorer with 654 runs.

Sehwag too to Twitter to express his delight to see another Rahul at that crucial position.

Arson baad ek Rahul number teen par (After a lot of days, Rahul at number three). #INDvAFG,” he wrote.
