Kolkata Knight Riders’ new recruit Tom Banton has given yet another example of the devastation he can cause with the bat. Continuing his stunning run of form in the ongoing Big Bash League, the England star slammed a half century off just 16 deliveries. Sydney Thunder were at the receiving end of the Brisbane Heat opener’s stunning fireworks.

The highlight of the breathtaking innings was the five consecutive sixes he hit off Arjun Nair in an over, helping Brisbane Heat post a mammoth total of 119/4 in the run-curtailed encounter which was reduced to eight overs per side.

All of just 21, he was the second leading run-scorer in last season’s T20 Blast in England. Tom Banton scored 549 runs at a staggering strike-rate of 161.47. He made four half-centuries and a blistering 51-ball century against Kent. Tom Banton was prolific in 50-over cricket too, smashing 454 during Somerset’s successful Royal London Cup campaign.

Those performances helped him break into the England team as he made it to the T20I squad for the tour of New Zealand. During the five-match series, he played three games.
