Suresh Raina, fondly called Mr. IPL, has not quite managed to weave his magic in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The southpaw has been Chennai Super Kings’ mainstay since the inaugural season but his form this year has not been that promising. That he managed just one fifty in the first 9 games of the competition this year is enough to prove that Raina is far from his best.

In his previous outing, he was castled for a duck by Royal Challengers Bangalore’s speedster Dale Steyn. Unsurprisingly, there was a lot of pressure on Raina when he came out to bat against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday. What made it, even more, tougher was that he came out to bat quite early after Faf du Plessis departed for just 1 in the third over. Raina, however, made his intentions clear by hitting the very first ball he faced for a boundary and did not look back.

In the sixth over of the innings which was the last over of the powerplay, Suresh Raina exploded and Sandeep Sharma found himself on the receiving end. The southpaw hit the pacer for four fours and a six to collect 22 runs from the over as Super Kings raced away to 49 after the powerplay. He started the over with a four before playing a dot ball. The next three balls went for fours too and then he ended the over with a six.
