Former India cricketer and father of Yuvraj Singh, Yograj Singh seems to have some personal feud with MS Dhoni. No matter what happens, Yograj Singh just manages to find a way to connect it with Dhoni and blame the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman. Yograj Singh has now said that his son Yuvraj deserved to be the captain of the Indian team and not Dhoni.
Dhoni was first made the captain of the Indian team in 2007 for the World T20. With the seniors skipping the tournament, Dhoni was given the task of leading the young team. And he did it with utmost aplomb, leading the team to the historic title. Dhoni soon became the captain of the team across formats and took India to unprecedented heights.
Under Dhoni, India won series in West Indies, New Zealand and Australia. He led India to the pinnacle of Test cricket before guiding them to win in World Cup and the Champions Trophy. However, Yograj Singh believes Yuvraj was the worth successor to lead the side. Speaking to NNIS Sports, the former India cricketer said that Dhoni did not deserve to be the captain.
“All the Indian cricketers are like my son just like Yuvi is. You will find good and bad person in every field of life. I hope we win this World Cup,” said Yograj Singh before reiterating that he would speak his heart out once the tournament gets over. He also accused some players of being double-faced.
Yograj further said that Dhoni made several big names exit the team for his personal gains.
“Yuvraj had the right to become the captain but you gave it to someone else who came to the team much later,” added Yograj Singh before comparing Dhoni with a pauper. He further accused Dhoni of getting an ‘adopted father’ before blaming the former captain of dumping the likes of Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir out of the team.
