Sunrisers Hyderabad was reeling at the bottom of the table at the midway mark and the resumption of IPL 2021 with no New Zealand and England players is going to add to their worries. Sunrisers have made it to the playoffs in their last three seasons and they will be hugely disappointed with their performances in the first half of the tournament this year
They managed just one win from the seven games they have played and their net run rate is not going to help them either. They will need a flurry of wins from no one which is not going to be easy and they have sacked talisman David Warner from the captaincy after his conflicts with the management. Here are 3 players from Sunrisers Hyderabad who might miss the 2nd leg.
3 Players From Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Who Might Miss The 2nd Leg:
Kane Williamson:
Kane Williamson was appointed the new skipper of the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise after their dismal performance in the first few games and he was expected to take the team forward with his captaincy skills as well as his batting prowess. Williamson had an excellent season in IPL 2018 as a captain and an opening batsman where he guided his team to the final.
However, he is also the skipper of the New Zealand team in all the formats and it is highly unlikely for him to participate again when the IPL resumes. Williamson is a very underrated T20 player and he can significantly have an impact on the team’s success. His calmness and solidity with the bat are unmatchable and Sunrisers Hyderabad needs to look out for captains again when IPL resumes.
Jonny Bairstow:
Jonny Bairstow is one of the hard hitters of the cricket ball and he brings the power game into display in the limited-overs matches. He is a match-winner and has been very successful so far in his short IPL career. The English wicketkeeper-batsman finished as the top scorer for the franchise with 248 runs in 7 games.
Bairstow is currently an important member of the England T20 and ODI squad too and he is expected to be busy with the international schedule. He averages nearly 42 in the IPL and takes on the bowling in the powerplay. His partnership alongside Warner has been one of the most fascinating opening pairs and Sunrisers Hyderabad might have to fill in a big hole if he isn’t available.
Jason Roy:
Roy did not get any opportunities this season for the Sunrisers Hyderabad as they had two overseas openers already in the form of Bairstow and Warner. Their team balance has suited Roy into the eleven but he can make a big impact for any side if he gets a chance in the playing XI. He has played eight IPL games in the past for the Delhi franchise and he is unlikely to be available when the IPL resumes.
