ODI cricket in recent times has seen a massive change in how the game is being played. Teams are looking to attack the opposition right from the word go and they are also responding with attacking instinct. The age-old phenomenon of seeing off the new ball out playing the first 10 overs cautiously is a thing of the past.
In the modern game, a score of 300 plus runs in ODI cricket is not considered safe anymore as teams chasing it down in a canter. England especially since the 2015 World Cup brought about this change where they are focusing more on ODIs and T20Is.

Pakistan
The Men in Green sits at the bottom of this list. The mercurial side can shock the cricketing world on their day while can go absolutely flat on the other. Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy win in the final against India was one such win that took the cricketing universe by surprise.
Meanwhile while chasing 300 plus on 53 occasions, they won just six games losing 47. They have the worst win-loss ratio at 0.127.
South Africa
The African cricket team have been the perennial underachievers in ODI cricket. From losing the 1999 World Cup semifinal against Australia to losing the 2015 World Cup semifinal against the Kiwis, life came to a full circle for them. They made a group stage exit in the 2019 edition.
In 33 games where they chased over 300 in ODIs, they lost 26 matches and won just seven. Choking on big occasions have been a part of the way the team plays. Their win-loss ratio is 0.269.

New Zealand
New Zealand are on par with South Africa in the number of wins they have chasing scores of 300-plus in the 50-over format. They have successfully completed seven ODI run chases needing in excess of 300 runs while losing out on 32 occasions. They have a ratio of 0.218.
They became the first team to make it to the World Test Championship final. They face a confident team in the final in nine days’ time in Southampton.
Sri Lanka
The side has failed to cope with the retirement of Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, and Tillakaratne Dilshan. They recently lost to Bangladesh in an ODI series that defines the state of affairs in their cricket. Australia
The Men in Yellow have the third-most wins when chasing scores of 300-puls. They emerged victorious on 11 games out of 39 losing 28 of them. They have a win-loss ratio of 0.392.
The team under Aaron Finch plays expressive cricket. They beat India in the ODI format when Virat Kohli’s men toured Down Under last year. India won the three-match T20I series 2-1 and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy under Ajinkya Rahane.
England
The World Champions brought a defining change to their ODI and T20I game ever since losing to Bangladesh in the 2015 World Cup which saw their exit from the tournament. Over the next four years, Eoin Morgan’s men mastered the white-ball formats the result of which was the 2019 World Cup win.
England have the second most wins when chasing 300-plus totals. They have won 14 out of 46 games while losing 31. They have a track record of 0.451.
India
Virat Kohli‘s men have been the most successful team when chasing massive scores. They have won 18 games out of 73 matches while losing 52 matches. They have the most number of losses owing to their lack of batting depth throughout the nineties.
Indian cricket changed since early 2000s which only got better after 2007 when MS Dhoni took over. Dhoni’s finishing skills helped India chase down big totals with ease.
Then came Virat Kohli’s era when he brought a new flavor to chasing big totals. He has the most number of tons while chasing and is also known as the ‘chase master.
