Ravichandran Ashwin Might Struggle To Make It To The Indian Squad For ICC World Cup 2023: Aaron Finch's Massive Claim

Former Australian captain Aaron Finch made an interesting statement on Ravichandran Ashwin’s chances in the ODI World Cup squad.

Former Australian captain Aaron Finch feels that Ravichandran Ashwin will not be part of India’s squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Talking to Star Sports, Aaron Finch said that Ashwin is included in the India side for the Australia series to guide the players as a mentor.

He said, “I think that depends on how they think the surfaces are going to play throughout the country, and by that time, I think the skill in picking a squad for the World Cup is you have to think of the back end. But you can’t think too much about it because you have to get there.”

I think he might struggle to make it to the final 15, but as somebody who has played so much cricket, I think the rest of the group that is with the Indian team for this current series against Australia, they could learn so much about big game play. Because Ashwin is somebody that stands up in big games, whether it’s a test match or a T20 game, he has done it all throughout his career. So I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s there at the moment as a mentor around the group, but I don’t see him making that last 15, unfortunately,” Finch added.

Ashwin who is been included in the 3-match ODI series against Australia bowled very effectively. During the 2nd ODI match, he bowled a brilliant spell taking 3 crucial wickets in just 7 overs. He dismissed Australia’s main batters Marnus LAbuschagne, David Warner, and Josh Inglish.

The availability of Axar Patel for the World Cup is in doubt as he was injured during the Asia Cup. In the absence of him Team India is looking for a bowling allrounder who can bowl 10 overs and can bat at 8th position. Washington Sundar is also on the list and was included in the final of the Asia Cup 2023.
