Pakistan pacer Hassan Ali has been included in the national team for the much-awaited ODI World Cup 2023, scheduled to begin on October 5 in India. Hassan Ali replaced the injured pacer, Naseem Shah, in Pakistan’s 15-member squad for the upcoming marquee tournament.

Hassan Ali wasn’t part of the Pakistan squad in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023. The right-arm pacer has not represented the national team in the 50-over format for the past year. His last ODI appearance for Pakistan was against the West Indies in Multan in June 2022.

Naseem Shah Ruled Out World Cup 2023 Due To Injury

The Babar Azam-led team was eliminated from the Asia Cup after suffering back-to-back losses in the Super Four stage. Naseem Shah suffered an injury and was forced to leave the field during the match against India. He failed to complete his 10-over quota due to a shoulder injury.

Shah was not included in the playing XI against Sri Lanka in the continental tournament as a precautionary measure. However, the scans in Dubai revealed that the injury is worse than initially expected. Subsequently, the 20-year-old pacer was ruled out of the tournament.

“Hasan Ali performed brilliantly in the Lankan Premier League. He has performed in major events for Pakistan in the recent past. Hassan Naseem Shah can also bowl with the new ball. Hasan is someone who brings energy to his companions by his presence,” Inzamam said.
