Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa has been one of the best bowlers in the ongoing T20 World Cup. He has revealed that he mostly thrives on being underestimated by the people despite having put up excellent performances in the past.

Zampa is the second-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing ICC tournament, having claimed 12 wickets in six games at a strike rate of 11.5 and a stunning economy of 5.69. He recorded the best figures of the tournament against Bangladesh, claiming 5 for 19 in four overs.

In a conversation with cricket.com.au, Zampa revealed his mantra for success: “I’ve always been underestimated. Even as a 15 or 16-year-old growing up in the country, there was always a city guy that’s better than me or there’s always been someone that turns their leg-spinner more than I do. Even after this tournament, there’ll be another series that comes up and I’ll be underestimated again. I do thrive off that.

Marcus Stoinis hails Adam Zampa, calls him a ‘super honest’ player

Adam Zampa’s fellow teammate and close friend, Marcus Stoinis, praised the leggie for being an extremely honest person and staying humble, especially after the splendid 5-wicket haul against Bangladesh. Zampa was also excellent in the semifinal against Pakistan, giving away just 22 runs in four overs while the others were expensive.

He was brilliant (in the semi-final) and took complete control of his four overs and of the innings at that stage where (Pakistan) were going really well. The great thing about Zamps is he’s super honest.

He took his five wickets the other night and he felt like he didn’t bowl well. That’s a quality of a good player when you’re picking apart your own game and you understand exactly what you’re doing,” Stoinis said.

Australia defeated Pakistan in the semifinal of the T20 World Cup, and they will now face New Zealand in the grand final on Sunday.
