The former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed was earlier named in the reserves for the T20 World Cup 2021 and he later went on to be named in the 15 member squad. The right-hander has been among the runs in the PSL however, his international numbers aren’t convincing enough to give him a long run.

Sarfaraz is 34 now and he doesn’t have many years of cricket left in him. He has played 60 T20 international games scoring 812 runs at an average of 28 and has managed just three fifties in the format so far. He plays the sweep shots against the fast bowlers and if he does get a chance against India, he should try to score some runs as it could even end his career.

Shoaib Malik:

Shoaib Malik is one of the most experienced T20 players going around in the international circuit and he possesses a big threat to the opponents with his six-hitting skills. Malik can roll his arm over as well and he is one of the fiercest competitors in the game. However, the Pakistan board did not prefer Shoaib Malik right away.

He was added to the squad near the start of the tournament, and he will be facing stiff competition for the number five position alongside Haider Ali. At 39 years of age, Malik could face an axe if he fails to perform against India in their first game.

Asif Ali:

Asif Ali has a big reputation of clearing the big sixes consistently and the 30 years old has been presented with a lot of opportunities. But despite the chances, he has been failing to make consistent scores and average just 16.4 in 29 T20 internationals with a strike rate of less than 125.

Asif Ali has the ability to tonk sixes and he has been the preferred number six in the warm-up games which makes him almost a certainty in the playing XI against India. It will be interesting to see if he manages to make an impact as he could lose out on his spot from the playing XI.
