England’s middle-order batsman and part-time spinner, Liam Livingstone, suffered an injury scare while fielding in the warmup match against India on Monday.
Livingstone fluffed a rather straightforward catch and ended up injuring his left hand. He was seen walking off in grimace, but the extent of the injury hasn’t been revealed yet.
Sam Billings was called in to replace Livingstone on the field soon after. Scans should give a better idea of where the 28-year-old stands regarding his injury.
He had a good outing with the bat earlier, scoring 30 off 20 balls comprising four fours and a six. The track was quite suitable for batting and both sides made utmost use of it.
Livingstone also contributed with the ball, scalping the wicket of Indian skipper, Virat Kohli. He bowled a couple of overs but had to walk off after the blow to his left hand. Livingstone seems to be part of England’s middle-overs plan and his participation is of utmost importance to England going forward.
Luckily for Eoin Morgan and co. they have a suitable replacement in James Vince if things don’t improve for Livingstone. The warmup match was won by India as they beat England by 6 wickets with one over to spare.
