New Zealand opener Martin Guptill has become just the second batsman in T20I history to breach the 3000-run mark. He achieved it during his knock against Scotland in their Super 12 stage match in the ongoing T20 World Cup.

Guptill reached the milestone after Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, who currently has 3225 runs in 92 matches. The Kiwi opener secured the feat in 105 matches while opening for Black Caps, scoring at an average of 32.30 with a good strike rate of 136.29.

Among the top teams, South Africa is his favorite opponent. Guptill has scored 424 runs in 10 matches against the Proteas, including a blazing knock of 101*. His average against them is a commendable 53.
