T20 World Cup 2021: Quinton de Kock's Stand On Taking The Knee Has Left Michael Holding Confused

Former West Indian legend Michael Holding was a bit surprised after South African wicket-keeper batsman, Quinton de Kock refused to take a knee in support of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement.
Although de Kock apologized and clarified his stance on the matter, Holding was astounded as to why it was necessary in the first place. Holding termed the refusal to take the knee as a ‘dumb’ move by de Kock.
“I just know that the action that he took was dumb, it did not look good. Has he now come to the realisation that what people are trying to do is real and worthwhile supporting or did he not know what the gesture was or what people were trying to do? What was it?” Holding questioned.
“No one is a racist within our team” – Keshav Maharaj comes in defence of Quinton de Kock
De Kock’s teammate and off-spinner, Keshav Maharaj, asserted that there were no racists in the team, and everyone supported and respected each other’s opinions. He also stated that de Kock will be slotted right back into the team if the team management chooses to do so.

“That’s down to the selectors in terms of whether he starts or not tomorrow. But I know that if he does get the opportunity, he’ll definitely slot back into the team. A person of his caliber, we know what Quinny can do with the bat. No one is a racist within our team. We all support one another and respect everyone’s cultural, religious, and spiritual differences,” Maharaj said to reporters ahead of their match against Sri Lanka.
South Africa has two points from two games so far and will take on Sri Lanka in today’s afternoon game at Sharjah.
