Former India opener Virender Sehwag feels that an 8-wicket loss against New Zealand in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium will hurt team India for a long time.

After the humiliating 10-wicket loss against Pakistan, fans were expecting India to get back on the track by defeating New Zealand. However, the complete opposite happened, and once again, India put out the flop show.

Losing the toss and batting first, India managed to score only 110 runs, with Ravindra Jadeja being the top run-getter for the side with 26 runs under his belt.

Defending the target except for Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy, all other bowlers looked clueless, and New Zealand completed the chase in 14.3 overs to earn their first victory in the T20 World Cup 2021.

After the match, former Indian cricketer Sehwag took to Twitter to express his opinion on the match. He stated that New Zealand performed “amazing”, and India’s body language “wasn’t great” in the match.

Virender Sehwag also pinpointed that the Blackcaps had made sure that India doesn’t make it to the semi-finals. He stated:

Very disappointing from India. NZ were amazing. India’s body language wasn’t great, poor shot selection & like few times in the past, New Zealand have virtually ensured we won’t make it to the next stage. This one will hurt India & time for some serious introspection.”

Veteran Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh also posted a tweet requesting fans not to be too harsh on the players as they are the ones who have been hurt the most after the defeat. Harbhajan Singh stated:

Let’s not be harsh on our players. yes we know them for better cricket. Sabse jyada players ko hurt hota hai after such results. but well done to @BLACKCAPS NZ for winning the match. they were fantastic in all departments “

India will next lock horns with Afghanistan National Cricket Team on November 3 at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
