The BCCI selection committee announced India’s T20 World Cup squad on Monday, September 12. Senior pacer Mohammed Shami has returned to the squad with Rohit Sharma leading the side. Among the other nominal names, Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel are also back in the squad. Shami finds himself in the reserves alongside Ravi Bishnoi and Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Chahar.

The squad looks balanced overall despite the absence of Ravindra Jadeja. There are four pacers and three spinners in the side. Bumrah, Harshal with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh make up the pacers. Deepak Chahar and Shami are the other two pacers in the reserves.

Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal are the three spinners. Ravi Bishnoi who was a part of India’s Asai Cup squad has been placed in the reserves. Bishnoi’s omission was talked about a lot with some former cricket experts supporting the move and some not.  In this article, we give three reasons why Ravi Bishnoi Deserved A Place In India’s T20 World Cup squad.

3 Reasons Why Ravi Bishnoi Deserved A Place In India Squad For T20 World Cup 2022

1) Fastest Spinner Of The Lot

All three Indian spinners are slow in pace as compared to Bishnoi. Chahal and Ashwin both are expected to bowl a lot slower in Australian conditions. Bishnoi could have been the surprise package with his speed as a spinner. So far, he has picked played 10T20Is for India taking 16 wickets.

2) Adds Variation To The Bowling Attack

Yuzvendra Chahal is a specialist leg-spinner, Ashwin a specialist off-spinner and Axar a specialist left-arm spinner. Bishnoi could have added an extra dimension to the bowling attack. He bowls wicket to wicket and bowls at pace. He keeps it very tight and bowls wicket to wicket.

3) Could Have Been India’s X-Factor

Bishnoi as a spinner is still largely undiscovered in international cricket. The management could have used him against oppositions who do not play spin well. He has a unique bowling action with googly not being his regular delivery. He rarely bowls the googly but uses the length of the pitch to his advantage. His deliveries come in with the angle often beating the batsmen for pace.
