Kieron Pollard is the first popular player who retired from T20Is before ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Pollard was the face of the West Indies team as he was the ODI and T20I skipper. He also led the team in the last edition of the T20 World Cup, where West Indies gave a very poor performance.

In February this year, the right-handed batsman also played his 100th T20I game. However, in April 2022, during his stint in IPL 2022, Pollard announced his retirement from international cricket. Nicholas Pooran became the new West Indies skipper in ODIs and T20Is after Pollard’s retirement.

Bangladesh player Mushfiqur Rahim is another player on this list. Mushfiqur Rahim is a wicketkeeper-batsman from Bangladesh and also a former national skipper. Recently, the wicketkeeper-batsman announced his retirement from the T20I format just after Asia Cup 2022.

Rahim exclaimed he only wants to focus on ODIs and Tests. Being a part of the team of Asia Cup 2022, Rahim was also expected to be picked in T20 World Cup 2022 squad. However, he announced his retirement from the shortest format just a month ahead of the tournament.

3. Eoin Morgan

Eoin Morgan is another world-class player who announced his retirement ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022. Morgan was the England skipper in ODIs and T20Is. He also led the team in the previous edition of the T20 World Cup last year where the team reached the semis.

He was also expected to lead the team in this year’s T20 World Cup 2022. However, the left-handed batsman announced his retirement from international cricket in June this year. Jos Buttler overtook Morgan as the new ODI and T20I skipper for England.
