England takes on Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 final in Melbourne on Sunday, November 13. The match is in many ways a rematch of the 1992 Word Cup final. Both Pakistan and England have won the T20 World Cup previously. Pakistan won it 2009 and England in 2010. The ENG vs PAK final will be a battle between the England batting lineup against the Pakistan bowling attack which is the stronger suit of the two respective teams in this tournament.
England and Pakistan have played 28 T20I against each other with England winning 18 and Pakistan nine. Both teams recently played a bilateral series in Pakistan which England won 4-3. These two teams have played a lot in the last two years in the T20I format. In T20 World Cups, the two teams have played twice with England winning both the matches.

The final has all the makings of a riveting contest. Pakistan and England have been the two best teams in the World Cup given the way they played. The only concern is the weather. There is plenty of rain expected on Sunday and Monday. However, the ICC has made some changes to the rules in case rain hinders the progress of play. Four extra hours will be added on the reserve day (Monday, Nov 14) in case rain plays a spoilsport on November 13.

England

The Jos Buttler-led side started the tournament as favorites but had an early hiccup against Ireland. Since then, they won every game barring the game against Australia which was rained out. Alex Hales (211) and Jos Buttler (199) are the top-scorers for England so far. With the ball, Sam Curran (10) and Mark Wood (9) have taken the most wickets.

England brought out their best game against India as Buttler and Hales added an unbeaten 170-stand to take the side home. The stand remains the most for any wicket in T20 World Cups and the second-best against India. Mark Wood missed the game with an injury and in all likelihood will miss the final as well as he is down with a hip injury. Dawid Malan suffered a groin injury and might also miss the final. They were assessed by the medical team but they still remain doubtful for the final as per reports in Cricbuzz.
England Squad
Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Ben Stokes, Tymal Mills, David Willey, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood, Alex Hales.

Pakistan

Pakistan are in the pink of their so to speak after making the final. They were late to start off but now have the momentum on their side after playing some good cricket on their way through to the final. There are no injury concerns in the Pakistan camp who are expected to field the same side that played the semi-final against the Kiwis.
After losing to India and Zimbabwe, the team won back-to-back against the Netherlands, South Africa, and Bangladesh. South Africa’s loss to the Netherlands meant that Pakistan needed to beat Bangladesh to make the semis which they did with ease.

They faced New Zealand in the semis and brought out their best performance with the bat. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan scored the fifties to set up the 153-run chase which was completed by Mohammad Haris (26). None of the Pakistan batters are yet on the top-run-getters list but they are in a happy space after the last game. Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi have taken 10 wickets each for Pakistan.
Pakistan Squad
Babar Azam (c), Shadab Khan, Asif Ali, Mohammad Haris, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shan Masood.
