ICC T20 World Cup 2022: Steven Smith All Set To Play After A String Of Injuries To Australian Batters

Australian Cricket Team registered a convincing victory against Ireland. The defending Champions were quite clinical with both bat and ball. There are chances that the skipper Aaron Finch may not be fit in time against the Afghanistan clash due to an injury.

Australia would be well aware of the fact that changing the lineup at this time can be risky. Australia will have to make sure that they win the match by a huge margin as NRR will play a vital role in deciding the Semi-Finalists.

Steven Smith on Wickets

Steve Smith was seen interacting with the media and was asked about the wickets. “The way the tournament has played out so far with the wickets, if you have got someone who can bat through a fair chunk of the innings and let the hitters go around them, that has worked pretty well. I certainly feel I can play that role,” said Smith.

The right-handed batter would be excited to be a part of the playing 11. Smith has been seen warming the benches as Tim David has replaced him. Smith was ignored as the batter doesn’t have the firepower to dismantle the opposition. There are concerns regarding Tim David and Marcus Stoinis.

It would be interesting to see at which position the batter plays as he is not comfortable at the No.5 or No.6 position. The management though has the services of Cameron Green but making him play in a crucial contest could be risky.
