Ace England all-rounder Ben Stokes sang the laurels of India batter Virat Kohli who made a stupendous comeback to form in international cricket recently during the Asia Cup 2022. Kohli had endured a horrendous run of 989 days without an international century or century in the Indian Premier League.

Kohli battled with mental stress and decided to take a month off cricket missing the West Indies and Zimbabwe tours in the process after the all-important tour of England in 2022. After not touching a bat in a month, Virat Kohli came back roaring in the Asia Cup 2022 T20 tournament in UAE.

He finally ended his century drought by hitting a magnificent 122* in 61 balls against Afghanistan, his maiden T20I century, his 71st international ton, and the highest individual score by an Indian batter in T20I cricket.

Just ahead of the high voltage second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 between India and England which will be played in Adelaide on November 10, Thursday, Ben Stokes spoke about how Virat Kohli has earned the right to be never written off again.

You Don’t Produce The Numbers And Produce The Innings That He (Virat Kohli) Does In Al Three Formats And Its Fine: Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes was crucial to England’s qualification into the semi-finals as his brilliant knock against Sri Lanka kept the 2010 T20 World Cup champions above the water and sent them into the knockouts by finishing second on the Group 1 Super 12s points table.

Talking about England’s opponents India, Ben Stokes praised Virat Kohli and said that he couldn’t fathom that a player of that stature could be written off so easily after a downward spiral.

“I think with Virat he could have four unbelievable years like he had, and then have a not so loud couple of months and then for some reason plays like that and gets written off, we have got no idea why. I think he has earned the right to never be written off.

You don’t produce the numbers and produce the innings that he (Kohli) does in all three formats and it’s fine. We as players and people who play against him a lot, we never take anything he has done in the game before into the game we have got here,” said Stokes.

England had failed to win the T20 World Cup in 2016 after being beaten by West Indies and Ben Stokes would like to erase those memories this time, as he had missed last year’s tournament.
