Mohammad Kaif, a former Indian batter, acknowledged that given the unpredictable nature of the competition, any of the four semifinalists might go to the T20 World Cup 2022 championship game. He did, however, believe that India and New Zealand are more likely to make it to the summit matchup because of their strong showings in the Super 12 stage.
With four victories and one defeat, the Men in Blue finished first in Group 2 with eight points. The Kiwis won the other group’s competition. They only lost one game while also winning three. Rain forced them to call off their fight with Afghanistan.
On Wednesday, November 9, the Kiwis will play Pakistan in the first semifinal in Sydney, and the Men in Blue will play England the following day in Adelaide. If an Indo-Pak final could be expected, Kaif said to Sportskeeda as follows:
“Anything is possible in this format. It is very difficult to predict which team will reach the final. But according to me, India and New Zealand have better chances of making the final because of the way they played in the league (Super 12) stage.”
“The two teams will also get an advantage due to their experience of having played big matches. Again, on the day, any team can beat anyone.”
