India National Cricket Team head coach Rahul Dravid was asked about the future of seniors players – Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin – in T20I cricket following India’s World Cup exit, he asserted that it’s “not the right time to talk about or think about this stuff now.”
After India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 campaign ended, several cricket pundits called for the departure of senior players from the T20I setup. Notably, India faced a heartbreaking 10-wicket defeat against England in the semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 at the Adelaide Oval to get knocked out of the tournament.

At the post-match press conference, India head coach Rahul Dravid was asked some difficult questions about the future of seniors, including Rohit, Kohli, Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar, in T20Is.
He replied that the aforementioned players have been performing brilliantly for India and they have a lot of time to make a decision on their future. He said:
“It’s too early to talk about it, just after a semi-final game… These guys have been terrific performers for us. We’ve got a couple of years to reflect on it. These are some really quality players here. Not the right time to talk about or think about this stuff now. We’ll have enough time, enough matches as we go on ahead and try to prepare for the next World Cup.”
The next ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be the 9th edition of the tournament, will be held in 2024 in the West Indies and the United States.
I think overall, we had a pretty good campaign – Rahul Dravid

Rahul Dravid was also asked about his views on India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 campaign. He replied that they had a “pretty good campaign”.
“I think overall, we had a pretty good campaign. We played some good T20I cricket. We had our moments in this tournament. Some individuals showed quality and skills. But today, we were just not good enough. I am sure we can look back on it and move forward,” he asserted.
