IND vs NED: I Was Just Trying To Express Myself When I Went In To Bat – Suryakumar Yadav After Winning POTM In T20 World Cup 2022 vs Netherlands

Suryakumar Yadav was adjusted Player of the Match in the 23rd match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 that was played between Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Scott Edwards-led Netherlands National Cricket Team at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday, October 27.

Winning the toss and batting first, the Men In Blue posted 179/2 on the board with the help of amazing batting performances by Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma.

Kohli smashed a terrific 62 runs off 44 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes, Rohit Sharma scored an amazing 53 runs off 39 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes, and Suryakumar smashed an exceptional 51 runs off 25 balls, including 7 fours and 1 six.

Chasing the target, the Netherlands batters struggled against the Indian bowlers and they got restricted to 123/9. Tim Pringle top-scored for the Netherlands with 20 runs in his bag.

Meanwhile, speedsters Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bagged two wickets each while Mohammed Shami bagged one wicket. Also, spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel bagged two wickets each.

During the post-match presentation ceremony Suryakumar Yadav, who reached the half-century milestone against the Netherlands with a six off the final ball of the innings, said:

“I was just trying to express myself when I went in to bat. The situation was very simple, I just had to up the tempo at that time.”

Suryakumar Yadav added that the message from the team management was pretty clear to score 8-10 runs an over and get to a total that the bowlers could easily defend. He said:

“I took one ball today (to get going), but the message was loud and clear. We had to get about 8-10 an over and get a total which our bowlers could defend easily. Very happy with the way things went.”

Suryakumar Yadav, who had a sensational 95* runs partnership in 48 balls with Virat Kohli, further said that he is enjoying batting with the former India captain. He stated:

“Really enjoying batting with him (Kohli), the thoughts are very clear when we both are batting.If I get few boundaries earlier then our partnership needs to be stretched and that’s what we are doing.”
