IND vs PAK: 3 Indian Players Who Will Be Ruled Out Of Team India In T20Is If They Don’t Perform Against Pakistan In T20 World Cup 2022. The venue of the 2022 T20I World Cup tournament is Australia. India will play their opening match of the T20I World Cup 2022 on October 23 against Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground. India is part of group 2 in the tournament with teams like Pakistan, South Africa, and Bangladesh in their pool.

The last time the two teams met at the 2021 T20I World Cup, Pakistan had beaten India by 10 wickets in their Super 12 match in Dubai to register their first-ever win against their neighbours in World Cups. Babar Azam hit an unbeaten 68, while Mohammad Rizwan smashed an unbeaten 79. Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled a terrific spell of 3/31 with three prized scalps of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli.
India’s Initial Squad for T20I World Cup 2022: Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul (VC), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (WK), Dinesh Karthik (WK), Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh
Standby players – Mohammed Shami, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, Deepak Chahar
But out of those 15 players that were selected in the main squad, the team’s star pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, was later ruled out of the entire tournament due to a back injury. The pacer, who was out of action since July 14, made his comeback after more than two months on September 23 in Nagpur against Australia, but after playing two matches, he again suffered an injury, as a result of which he will not feature for India in the 2022 T20I World Cup.

In his place now, India will select another pacer and senior fast-bowler Mohammed Shami is leading the race, while others like Deepak Chahar and Mohammed Siraj are also in the fray. Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar were already part of the four-man reserves list, while Mohammed Siraj’s name is also doing the rounds because of his experience of playing in Australia.
Mohammad Shami is set to replace injured Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian squad for the upcoming ICC T20I World Cup 2022 and will be joining the squad soon which has already landed in Perth, Australia where the tournament will begin from October 16 onwards.

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant can be ruled out of T20Is if he doesn’t perform against Pakistan in the 2022 T20I World Cup opening fixture. For the wicketkeeper option, India might pick Dinesh Karthik in the playing XI. In recent times, Dinesh Karthik has been more consistent than Rishabh Pant in the shortest format.
While Rishabh Pant scored 27 runs in one match in the previous T20I series against South Africa, Dinesh Karthik smacked an unbeaten 17 in one game and a 46-run knock in the other. Rishabh Pant has amassed 961 runs in 62 T20Is at a strike rate of 127.45 at a mediocre average of 24.03. If he fails in the 2022 T20I World Cup opener against Pakistan, India will look for other options as he hasn’t been as successful in limited-overs formats like Tests.
Ravichandran Ashwin

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin finally got a game after a while in the 1st T20I against Proteas in Hardik Pandya’s absence. He was economical but was wicketless returning with figures of 4-1-8-0 in the 1st T20I. The 36-year-old veteran spinner was wicketless in the entire T20I series against Proteas.
Ravichandran Ashwin was retained for the New Zealand home series after the conclusion of the 2021 T20I World Cup (where he returned to the T20I setup after 4 years) and was dropped later. And after a gap of eight months, he was brought back for the 5-match T20Is against hosts West Indies, where he picked 3 scalps in as many games.
He also picked 2 scalps in 2 Asia Cup 2022 games. A failure in the 2022 T20I World Cup opening fixture (if picked to play) against Pakistan may close the doors upon him in T20Is.
Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik was one of the best batsmen in IPL 2022 and his stunning performances helped him revive his international career. Dinesh Karthik had not played for India since 2019 and his career in international cricket was looking as good as over. However, his performance in IPL 2022 has completely changed his fortunes. In 16 IPL 2022 games for Royal Challengers Bangalore-RCB, he smashed 330 runs at an astonishing average of 55 and a brilliant strike rate of more than 183.
Against West Indies in the 1st T20I in the Caribbean tour, Dinesh Karthik smashed an unbeaten 41 off just 19 balls to help India post 190 and win the game by 68 runs. Prior to that, he had scored 55 of 27 balls in the 4th T20I against Proteas in the home series. He also scored 17* off 7 balls and 46 off 21 against Proteas in October 2022 home series.
Dinesh Karthik has amassed 672 runs in 56 T20Is (45 innings) averaging 29.22 at a strike rate of 146.41. However, a failure in the 2022 T20I World Cup especially against Pakistan may close the doors upon him as age isn’t on his side. The 37-year-old is probably playing his last 2022 T20I World Cup and may retire from international cricket soon.
