India face Pakistan in their first game of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 at the MCG on October 23. The Super 12 campaign began with the hosts Australia facing New Zealand in the first game on October 22. A total of 45 matches will take place during ICC T20 World Cup 2022. A total of 16 teams are part of the tournament. The final will be played on November 13.

India is part of group 2 in the tournament with teams like Pakistan, South Africa, and Bangladesh in their pool. After a disappointing campaign, India and Rohit Sharam will look to a better campaign in the T20 World Cup 2022. 

India won the inaugural T20 World Cup back in 2007. Since then, they are yet to win their second title. They made the final in 2014 and the semifinals in 2016. Rohit said that India will be fully ready before their game against Pakistan. 

“We wanted to come here early and acclamatise to the situation. By the time we play Pakistan, we will be prepared. We don’t believe in last minute information, I don’t want to believe in telling someone at the last minute that ‘you are playing,” Rohit said. 

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam also shared his thoughts on the IND vs PAK game in Melbourne. Under his captaincy, Pakistan has won two out of three T20Is against India. 

“Look, our preparations and this series particularly is meant for that (match against India)…and look, the India vs Pakistan are always a high-intensity one. And it is best that you stay cool and relaxed for this game because it helps you to perform better. And on the day we will try and give our hundred percent,” Babar Azam said after Pakistan qualified for the final of the T20I tri-series in New Zealand.

15 T20Is were played in Melbourne and host Australia have won 9 of them while losing 5. One match ended in no result. India have played 4 T20Is at MCG winning 2 and losing 1 of them. One match was abandoned. Pakistan have played 1 match at the MCG and lost it.

There is rain predicted for the IND vs PAK game. Australia has seen a fair bit of rain throughout the first phase of these qualifiers and the IND vs PAK game is threatening to be washed out as well. According to weathetr.com, the temperature will be 18ºC at day and 13ºC at night on the day of the match-23rd October, Sunday. The chances of rain are 80-100%.
