Rishabh Pant (WK)

Pant can come in for KL Rahul in the game against Pakistan. He scores a run while opening the batting in T20Is. His batting at the top also helps India maintain the left-right combination.
Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is yet to be dismissed in this T20 World Cup so far. He scored an unbeaten 82 against Pakistan followed by an unbeaten 62 against the Netherlands. Kohli’s form is key to India going the distance in this World Cup.
Suryakumar Yadav

SKY is fresh off an unbeaten 51 against the Netherlands. He also got a start against Pakistan but could not quite capitalize. He is amongst the highest run-scorers in T20I cricket in 2022 and might well get to 1000 runs in the calendar year in this tournament.
Hardik Pandya

Hardik can slot in at five. He played a match-winning innings with the bat along with Kohli and was impactful with the bat as well. Against the Netherlands, he was not needed that much.
Dinesh Karthik

Karthik can hold onto his slot at six. He could not capitalize on the opportunity against Pakistan while against the Netherlands he was not needed.
Ravichandran Ashwin

Ashwin can slot in at seven. He took the most important single ever in Indian cricket against Pakistan and followed it up with a good performance against the Netherlands.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvi can slot in at eight. He can bat decently and can contribute 10 to 20 runs with the bat if needed. He will lead the pace attack with Shami and Arshdeep for company.
Mohammed Shami

Shami will be the second Indian seamer in the playing XI. He took a wicket each against Pakistan and the Netherlands and has bowled well in the tournament so far.
Arshdeep Singh

The left-armer will be the third seamer in the playing XI. So far he has had an impact on the World Cup. He has taken five wickets so far in the tournament.
Yuzvendra Chahal

Chahal should replace Axar Patel in the playing XI against South Africa as the Proteas are not good players of leg-spin and Chahal might have an important role to play in the contest.
