England National Cricket Team captain Jos Buttler has hailed Pakistan as a “fantastic team” and said that they are expecting a “very tough challenge” in the summit clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.
The Three Lions are all set to lock horns with the Men In Green in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. The high-voltage game is set to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday, November 13.
Speaking ahead of the World Cup final, Jos Buttler said that they are excited about the summit clash and added that playing in a World Cup final is always a “huge honour”.
“There’s huge excitement for the match. Anytime you get a chance to play in a World Cup final, it is a huge honour. We’re really excited as a group, there’s a really nice feel around the team.
“Our previous performance gives us lots of confidence, but it doesn’t count for anything tomorrow. We start a really tough game against a top opposition. Anytime you’re fighting for the trophy, you know it is not going to come easy,” said Buttler.
We’ve played brilliant matches against them, played in a fantastic spirit – Jos Buttler
The 32-year-old Jos Buttler further praised Pakistan for producing excellent pace bowlers. He added that they have played brilliant matches against Pakistan in a fantastic spirit and the same thing will happen in the World Cup final.
“Pakistan are a fantastic team. They have a long history of producing excellent fast bowlers, and the team we’re up against is no different. So, by the end of their careers, some of the guys we’ll play against will go down as some of the best Pakistan has produced. That’s a huge part of why they got to a World Cup final.
“We expect a very tough challenge. They’re a team we’ve seen a lot of in the past. We’ve played brilliant matches against them, played in a fantastic spirit and I’m sure tomorrow will not be different.
“I’ve certainly had a few dreams about it. It really links back to when you’re a kid and you’d do it in your garden where your brother and sister are pretending to lift the trophy, and now being able to have the opportunity to live it out is incredibly special,” said Buttler.
