Both teams have placed recently in a bilateral T20I series that England won. The two teams are well aware of their strengths and weaknesses.

For Pakistan, especially this tournament has been one to remember. After back to back defeats against India and Zimbabwe, the side was down and out. South Africa’s loss to the Netherlands meant that Pakistan had to win their match against Bangladesh to make the semis and they did it with some authority. They played New Zealand in the semis and won convincingly.

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan who were quiet for the first half of the tournament found form in that came and notched up fifties with their team needing 153 runs to win. Their century stand laid the perfect platform as the team won with five balls to spare.

England also had a World Cup of its own. They came into this tournament as favorites but lost an early game against Ireland. That became one of the upsets of the tournament. Their match against Australia was rained out which worked in their favor. Back-to-back wins against New Zealand and Sri Lanka meant that they made the semis.

The India vs England semi-final was expected to be a closely fought contest but it did not happen that way. The England bowlers kept the Indian scoreboard in check. The Indian openers once again did not get a good start and Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli’s fifties meant that the Men in Blue scored a below-par 168.

Batting became easy under lights with the ball coming onto the bat a little bit better. Jos Buttler (80*) and Alex Hales (86*) notched up a 170-run stand to take their team over the line and to the final. None of the Indian bowlers were able to make an impact as England registered a 10-wicket win to knock India out of the tournament.

The PAK vs ENG final starts at 1.30 pm IST on Sunday. There has been a lot of rain in Melbourne throughout the tournament. The venue saw three matches being rained out and if the final is also rained out, the two teams will share the trophy.

There is rain predicted during the day on Sunday in Melbourne. In the evening, the temperature will drop down to 13 degrees, and nearly 7mm of rain is expected. Humidity is expected to be around 86 and there is a 70 percent chance of rain.

In case it rains on Sunday, the PAK vs ENG final will be shifted to the reserve day (November 14). If no play is possible even on the reserve day, both Pakistan and England will share the title.
