SA vs NED Match Preview, ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12, Group 2, Match 40

South Africa take on the Netherlands in match 40 of the ICC T20 World Cup in Sydney on Sunday, November 6. The Dutch side are already out of the tournament while the Proteas lost their previous match against Pakistan. That loss has put them in a precarious position and in a must-win situation against the minnows.

South Africa are placed second on the points table still after the loss. They are on five points from four games. They boast of still having one of the best all-round sides of the tournament despite losing their previous game. They have all to play for as they look for a spot in the semi-finals.

The super 12 round began on October 22 with the first match between Australia and New Zealand– the finalists of last year’s T20 World Cup. A total of 45 matches will take place during ICC T20 World Cup 2022. A total of 16 teams are part of the tournament. The final will be played on November 13.

South Africa

All of South Africa’s good work in the tournament so far was spoiled after their loss against Pakistan in the rain-truncated game. They were needed to chase 142 in 14 overs after rain played spoilsport in their chase.

The Proteas now need to have a clinical game against the Dutch. Their bowlers went around the park in the game against Pakistan and need to be on the dot against the Netherlands. It will also be interesting to see if David Miller who missed the game against Pakistan due to injury returns to the side for the final game.

The Dutch side has lost three of their four games so far in the Super 12s. They are already out of the tournament having lost against Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan before winning against Zimbabwe. They came into the Super 12s beating UAE and Namibia.The Netherlands beating the Protean side will be a big upset if it happens.
