Christchurch is all set to host the AUS vs NZ second Test match. The Test match will be played from March 8-12. Australia are leading the series 1-0 after their 172-run win in the first Test in Wellington.

Australia have already named its playing XI for the final Test match. Skipper Pat Cummins named an unchanged Xi for the second Test. Australia especially their bowlers bowled their team to victory in the first Test.

Australia have secured their bowling core with Cummins, Staarc, Hazlewood, and Cummins. With Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh also included in the XI, they have six bowlers in the XI with Travis Head with his spin bowling as well.

New Zealand, on the other hand, will be led by Tim Southee. Southee and Kane Williamson are all set to play their 100th Test match each in Christchurch They will be joining the likes of Baz McCullum, Stephen Fleming, Daniel Vettori, and Ross Taylor the others who have played 100 Test matches for New Zealand.

New Zealand after the first Test loss have a chance to level the series. If they win the next Test, it will be their ninth overall and their first Test win at home against Australia since 1993. They will need their senior players to stand up if they need to win the second Test.

Australia have named an unchanged XI for the second test. Pat Cummins confirmed the XI in the pre-match press conference. Cummins is on the verge of his first Test series win against New Zealand. Australia can pip the Kiwis to the first position if they win this Test match.

There will be plenty of sunshine for the first three days of the Test match. The temperature will be around 17-20 degrees. The final two days will be much cooler and cloudier in comparison to the first three days. There is also a possibility of rain as well in the final two days as per Accuweather.

Pitch Analysis

The venue has hosted 13 Test matches to date with the average first innings score close to 300. Australia’s first innings score of 383 turned out to be the difference as the batters could not surpass the 200 mark in the next three innings. The team batting first on this pitch would ideally like to have big first inning score to secure the advantage.

The weather conditions are the best for play in the first three days. The temperature will be around 18-23 degrees with enough sunshine in between cloudy spells. Day four and five will be much cloudier and thus there might be a delayed start. Day 55 has a 55 percent chance of rain.
