The second Test of the series between the Bangladesh National Cricket Team and the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team is underway at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. The game between the two teams kickstarted on Saturday (30th March).
Sri Lanka have taken complete control of the second Test against Bangladesh. They have batted and bowled magnificently well and are now looking like favorites to win the game. They won the first game by a massive margin and would be keen to compete in the whitewash.
BAN vs SL, 2nd Test, Day 3- Bangladesh innings: Zakir Hasan top scores with 54 as Sri Lanka bowlers wreak havoc with the ball
Bangladesh had a decent start to their innings on Day 3. Overnight batters in Zakir Hasan and Taijul Islam batted pretty well in the morning and 49 runs before the former got out for 54 runs, courtesy of Vishwa Fernando, who then removed Islam for 22 runs.
After the duo got out, Bangladesh came under a lot of pressure and lost wickets quickly. Najmul Hossain Shanto’s torrid run continued as he scored just 1 run. Mominul Haque after that looked settled at the crease and played some crisp shots in his innings but couldn’t carry on.
Mominul Haque scored just 33 runs whereas Shakib Al Hasan also didn’t have a great outing with the bat on his comeback. The all-scored just 15 runs before he was removed by Asitha Fernando. Sri Lanka bowlers then made sure they wrapped up the tailenders quickly.
Shahadat Hossain Dipu (8), Mehidy Hasan Miraz (7), and Khaled Ahmed (7) fell early as Bangladesh got all out for just 178 runs. They got out inside the 70 overs and conceded a massive lead of over 350 runs and put themselves in a pressure situation at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
For Sri Lanka, Asitha Fernando was the pick of the bowlers. He picked four wickets whereas Vishwa Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, and Prabath Jayasuriya also chipped in. They all picked two wickets as they made sure Bangladesh got out for a low score in the first innings.

BAN vs SL, 2nd Test, Day 3- Sri Lanka innings: Nishan Madushanka, and Angelo Mathews help Sri Lanka extend the lead by over 450 runs
Sri Lanka didn’t have a great start with the bat to their second innings. Dimuth Karunaratne perished early for just 4 runs. If this was not enough, Kusal Mendis too bagged a failure as the visitors were left tottering at 15/2.
However, opener Nishan Madushanka (34) and veteran Angelo Mathews batted well and made sure that they bail their team out of trouble. The duo added 45 runs together but after the opening batter was back in the hut, Sri Lanka lost quick wickets with Dinesh Chandimal (9) and Dhananjaya de Silva (1) back as well.
Angelo Mathews (39*) however, kept battling hard and made sure that he stayed there till the end. The pitch got difficult to bat on, but the veteran batter oozed his class as Sri Lanka ended the Day on a decent note. At stumps on Day 3, they were 102/6 and are runs 455 runs ahead of Bangladesh. For the hosts, Hasan Mahmud picked 4 wickets.
