Bangladesh National Cricket Team and Sri Lanka National Cricket have been involved in a cracker of a Test match for the last four days. The second game between the teams kick-started on Saturday (30th March) and is underway at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

The second Test between the Bangladesh National Cricket Team and the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team is heading towards an exciting finish. Even though the Dhananjaya de Silva-led side are looking like favorites to win the game, the hosts are leaving no stone unturned in giving their best.

Sri Lanka had a good outing with the bat on Day 4 of the game. Overnight batters in. Angelo Mathews and Prabath Jayasuriya showed great discipline with the bat early on and played magnificently in the first hour of the game at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

Angelo Mathews played a vital innings for the team and made sure that he helped his team set a big target. The veteran batter slammed a magnificent half-century on a pitch, which was difficult to bat on. The batter played an innings of 56 runs before Shakib Al Hasan castled his stumps.

On the other end, Prabath Jayasuriya (28*) supported him well as the duo added 43 runs together. After Mathews got out, Jayasuriya along with Vishwa Fernando (8*) added quick fire 25 runs that took Bangladesh’s lead past 500 runs on the board. They declared their innings on 157/5, setting a massive target of 511 runs to chase for Bangladesh.

For Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud was the pick of the bowlers as he picked four wickets. Khaled Ahmed supported him well with the new ball and picked up 2 wickets. Shakib Al Hasan also was in the wickets column as he picked one wicket.

Chasing the target of 511 runs, Bangladesh openers Mahmud Hasan Joy (24) and Zakir Hasan (19) had started with the bat but couldn’t carry on. They batted well in the start and added 37 runs for the opening partnership but both lost their wickets in quick succession of time.

Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (20) also had a start but a similar story like openers unfolded with him as he too perished after the star. Mominul Haque (50), however, kept his team in the hunt and slammed a vital half-century but he couldn’t convert his fifty as Bangladesh came under pressure.

Shakib Al Hasan (36) and Litton Das (38) looked solid at the crease and tried to bail their team out of trouble. They batted superbly well and added 61 runs together. They both lost their wickets within the span of 3 overs as Bangladesh was left tottering at 197/6.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz then made sure that Bangladesh took the game to the last day. At stumps on Day 4, the hosts were 268/7 and were 243 runs away. For Sri Lanka, Lahiru Kumara, Prabath Jayasuriya, and Kamindu Mendis picked two wickets each.
